Wolfy is now sleeping with the angels
at Rainbow Bridge. I miss my little guy so much. Please stay
and read his story, and you are welcome to read my last special
entry about Wolfy here.

Tomorrow is Wolfy's third birthday! Thats right, our little
guy has reached 3 years old!!!
I want to apologize for not updating sooner! And thank you to
everyone who has emailed me to ask how Wolfy is doing, it means
so much to us that you all care!
Wolfy is doing pretty good. He has seen his cardio vet again
since July, and this vet is able to remove fluid from Wolfy
by giving him a Valium, which is much safer than anesthesia!
I am so very grateful that a very wonderful man referred me
to this cardio vet, he has been a Godsend for Wolfy's care.
Wolfy now takes Lasix, Enacard, Spyro. He has been doing very
well on this combination of medications. Tomorrow he is going
to his cardio vet for a checkup, he has been breathing slightly
heavy and I want to make sure he is all right. I hate to bring
him to the doctor on his birthday, but its the day we need to
go. Wolfy will be getting an xtra big plate of boiled chicken
for his birthday dinner!
Wolfy is also now eating prescription Cardiovascular formula
by Purina. This is a no sodium food. This past week I have been
mixing boiled chicken into the food to entice him to eat more,
since he does not seem to like the prescription food all too
much. He loves the chicken, tho!
I am so thankful and grateful that Wolfy has reached this three
year marker. I always prayed he would make it this far. I think
this is wonderful news and hopefully will give other pet owners
some hope! Remember, Wolfy was only expected to live about a
year! He has tripled that! Yay Wolfy!!!!
We knew you could do it!!! |

Wolfy seems to be doing much better since we increased his Lasix.
His breathing is much calmer now, and he is eating very well.
I hope the cardio vet has good news when we visit him next week. |

Today Wolfy received a get-well card from a little girl I used
to be close to. Thank you, Ashley, for thinking of Wolfy. I've
always wanted to have a child that would love animals as much
as I do and would share in caring for them. I will never have
children of my own, which is why I have pets to love. It was
really sweet to get a card from a child and I know Wolfy will
love it.
Wolfy is still breathing very heavy today, and he seems tired.
I spoke to the vet and she has increased his Lasix again. I
am afraid his little heart just can't keep up anymore. We cannot
stay here in NH so I have to take Wolfy back to NJ on Saturday.
I have scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist for Tuesday,
the 30th. I hope Wolfy can make it til then and maybe this doctor
will have some ideas on how to help Wolfy. |

Wolfy's abdomen and chest have been filling with fluid. He has
been acting fine, but the fluid cannot stay there. My vet in
NJ attempted to remove the fluid, however he was only able to
remove 150cc's. Wolfy gets very agitated and will not sit still
during the procedure, so the vet did not proceed. The vet did
not seem overly confident about the situation, so I called Wolfy's
vet in NH and she seemed optimistic and hopeful that if Wolfy
could be sedated carefully, then the fluid could be removed
and hopefully he would have a little more time.
I made the decision to drive Wolfy to NH and let his regular
vet do the procedure. I have always loved his vet there and
he has received terrific care, so I thought it would be worth
the 4 hour drive to have the procedure done.
Wolfy made the car ride just fine. I let him sit on the front
seat like the last time we drove and he was very content. He
was put under a mild anesthetic and they were able to remove
a LITER of fluid from his chest and abdomen. I cannot believe
how much fluid was inside this little guy. I was able to bring
him home that nite and he was so happy and kitten-like. He was
extremely loving, doing rubbies and happy feet. It was so good
to see him this way, it was the happiest moment I can remember
in a long time.
This morning, tho (the next day) Wolfy is having a little trouble
breathing. I am very worried. Last nite he looked so good, healthy
and happy. All I can do is wait and watch him, and pray. I will
never give up on my baby. |

July 15, 2002
Wow, a lot has been going on the past few months! Last month
Wolfy and I (and also the dog and some of the other cats) moved
to NJ for a little while to visit my parents. I was very worried
about Wolfy making the 5 hour drive from NH to NJ, because he
does not like to be in the carrier at all. So...I piled a big
blanket on the passenger side seat of my car, and I attached
a leash to his little collar and gave him about two feet of
leash so that he could not wander around the car while I was
driving. Now, I know that this was very dangerous but I didn't
know how else to do this without putting him in the carrier.
I gave him two drops of Rescue Remedy as the trip started, and
I am proud to say that Wolfy did great! I put a little cloth
over him so that he would not get a chill from the air conditioner.
He slept most of the drive and seemed very content.
My parents house is much bigger than mine and there are 4 people
here, and Wolfy seems very interested in everything here. He
does not appear to be resting as much as he did at my house,
I am not sure if this is good or bad. My parents cannot believe
he is sick because he follows them all over the house and he
jumps up on the kitchen table all the time to beg for food.
Over the past two weeks, Wolfy's abdomen has been filling with
fluid. He has had fluid in his chest in the past. I took him
to a vet here in NJ (they are nice but I really miss our vet
in NH!!!), and they did not want to remove the fluid yet, as
not to cause stress. I measured his tummy and it is 18"
in diameter, and he is 8.5lbs. Today he is breathing a little
heavier so I am very nervous. I hope that if they need to remove
the fluid, that he can get thru that without any bad episodes
like the last time that he had a chest tap.
Please keep Wolfy in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you! |

I am delighted to say that Wolfy is doing really well!! He went
for his checkup a few weeks ago and had some blood work done.
His kidney levels are slightly elevated due to the medication,
so my vet prescribed a diet of the prescription canned food
specially formulated for kidneys, there is one made by Hills
and one made by Purina. Both these foods, even tho a wet food,
are very dry in texture! I have to add water to make it easier
for him to eat. He is not thrilled with it, but is eating it.
He has also gained another pound!!!
I have also noticed that Wolfy is much more active, happy and
seeking affection and attention much more than he used to be.
I love it! He truly seems to be very happy and seems to feel
good inside. He has been crazy for table food, I have to guard
my plate when I am eating at all times! Ha! |

Things are still going well. Wolfy has gained a pound! Yesterday,
after eating his wet food with his meds hidden inside, he
became very distraught looking, started to breathe quickly,
and then threw up his dinner. I have never seen Wolfy get
sick to his tummy before. I could see that he had not digested
his meds, so I waited three hours (after speaking to the vet)
and then gave his pills to him again, with a different can
of food of a different flavor. He was fine after that. He
is going to the vet next week for a check up so I will mention
this too. In one of my pet magazines, I found a foaming cleanser
that comes out like a mousse that you massage into the fur
then wipe with a damp cloth. I used it on Wolfy's fur to clean
up some of the mess after syringe feeding him last week and
now he looks white and fluffy. Its mango scented. Wolfy says
"Mommy, I smell like the Tropicanas!" :)

Wolfy is doing TERRIFIC! He is now totally eating on his own,
walking all over the house with minimal wobbliness, and he is
not sleeping nearly as much. He has been very alert and very
affectionate, giving rubbies to me and doing his little happy-chirps.
He is eating like a little pony now, and is back to begging
for people food every nite when I eat my dinner. His cold seems
to be totally gone now as well.
Overall he looks really good too. His coat looks fluffier and
he has been grooming himself, and I brush him every other day
like I normally do. I spoke to his vet and she is very happy
with his progress, and she would like to see him in about a
week or two to check his blood panel. Lets keep our fingers
crossed!! |

We're doing pretty good! I finally got the canned A/D food from
the vet, and Wolfy loves it. It has a nice, creamy texture and
smells good. He ate a few spoonfuls on his Mikasa saucer all
on his own. Then I added water and syringed the rest into his
mouth. He has a cold, so I had to get Amoxy from the vet, he
is taking 1ml twice per day. Its bright pink and looks just
great all stuck to his fur with the Kitty Glop! LOL. My poor
beautiful baby, I can't wait to clean him up right so he looks
white and fluffy again. He has always had the most gorgeous
ruff and coat.
Today when I went home lunch hour to see him, he was sitting
in the living room rather than hanging in the bedroom. He has
also been torking on his cat tree, which is good. He seems to
be in good spirits. My vet is happy with how he is doing so
far, so that makes me feel good. I am trying so hard, and I
am so mentally exhausted from worrying about him. I wake up
several times at nite to go check on him. I have spent hours
online researching and talking to breeders and pet owners. Everyone
keeps saying there is nothing I can do, to just let him be and
let life take its course, but I just want to make sure that
I am doing everything possible and not missing something that
could have been done. I'm going to post some new pictures of
him, so anyone who is reading can see a visual progress of him
as well. I really hope that someday, this site will help someone
else to help their kitty too. |

Wolfy is still hanging in there pretty well! He is drinking
on his own, but still not eating. He did eat a tiny bit of boiled
chicken tonite, but only about 3 or 4 bites, but it was nice
to see he had an interest.
I am still syringe feeding the Kitty Glop, plus water with pedialyte.
I am going to call his vet tomorrow and see if I can get some
of this Science Diet canned A/D that everyone is telling me
about, which can be watered down and syringe fed.
He is 5lbs now, and has been all week. His top weight ever was
7.5lbs, so I guess this isn't too bad. He has always been small.
He does not seem to want to walk all the way over to his litterbox,
so he is having tiny little puddle accidents every now and then.
I tried putting the litterbox near to him, but he doesn't like
it there. He is very defiant!!
I am just going to let him go on like this and see if he gets
better. I am not giving up while he is still fighting. |

Wolfy is doing so much better today!! I put some Pedialyte in
his water (50/50) and he has been drinking that up. I also gave
him several syringes of children's vanilla Pediasure, which
he seemed to swallow better than the turkey or beef baby food.
I bought the Pediasure at the supermarket, it was in the baby
food aisle.
I also made him some Kitten Glop, the recipe was given to me
by a breeder. It can be found on the recipe link to the right
of this page. I filled the syringe and slowly squirted into
his mouth. I went to my local pharmacy and they were nice enough
to give me some tiny oral syringes. You can also purchase a
variety of different syringes from Revival
Animal Health.
Wolfy is walking, not as wobbly as he was yesterday. He also
jumped on the couch, took a nap, and jumped back down all by
himself! Yay, Wolfy!!! I am so proud of him, he is doing great!
I love this little guy!!!!! |

He is still very, very tired. He will not eat on his own, so
I am syringe feeding him baby food with water. I gave him about
4 syringe-fulls. He does not like this at all. I feel bad, but
I must get food into his tummy. He did walk a few feet but became
very wobbly and tired and fell over. I carried him back to his
blankie and he slept peacefully. He is still drinking on his
own, thankfully. I put him in his window hammock for about 2
hours since it was gorgeous out and I thought the nice warm
breeze would perk him up. He seemed to like it but fell asleep
up there. |

Wolfy seems about the same. I bought him some shaved turkey
and roast beef. He ate some, but very quickly and then started
to gag and would not eat anymore. He is very sleepy and wobbly,
not walking at all except to go potty. |

I brought Wolfy home today. He is very tired and weak but seems
very happy to be home. I set up a blankie for him in the living
room, with his food and water dish right next to him, and moved
a small litterbox about 3 feet away from him so he will not
have to move too much. The other cats are cuddling and cleaning
him. He is taking Lasix (12.5mg) and Enacard daily. I am worried
about the Lasix affecting his kidneys. Its important that he
drink lots of water. He ate a tiny bit of wet food but then
wouldn't touch it. He is soo weak, he can barely seem to hold
his head up or stay awake. He can not really walk well at all.
He seems to have lost some mobility in his hind legs. He had
a seizure while at the vets, so I believe this is an after-effect
of the seizure.
While he is resting, I am playing CD's very softly for him,
all the time. I have been playing Tim
Janis and Secret
Garden. These are very nice, soft, new-age music CD's. I
have read that Tim Janis' CD's are played in cancer recovery
wards to soothe the patients. I think Wolfy likes it! Its very
relaxing. |

Wolfy was having a very hard time breathing tonite. He was panting,
and breathing with his mouth open. He was becoming very agitated,
not being able to sit still and hiding. We rushed him to the
vet at 3am. He was immediately put in oxygen therapy and given
Lasix by IV. We were able to say goodbye to him for the nite
and he looked more comfy in the oxygen and was breathing easier.
The vet removed 20cc of fluid from his chest. That is not good.
:( I miss him already, I've never had to leave him anywhere
overnite before. |

March
2002
I took Wolfy for a check-up. I have noticed that occasionally
he is breathing heavy. The vet said he sounded okay and was
happy that Wolfy had gained a tiny bit of weight.
Around the middle of the month he started having really bad
sneezing fits again. One day he had a very bad seizure, foaming
at the mouth and everything. It was awful and scary. He was
literally choking on the stuff coming out of his mouth and breathing
it back up into his nose. I used a small syringe to suck the
stuff out of his mouth and then to lightly squirt a tiny bit
of water into his mouth. After about two hours he calmed down
and fell into an exhausted sleep by the dog. This episode really
scared me, it was the worst one I have ever seen him have. |
|
February
2002
Wolfy is doing very well on the medication. His breathing is
very calm and normal, and he is eating really good. I have a
lot of hope that he is going to be okay. |
|
January
2002
Wolfy had a bad month this month. :( He was having trouble breathing
so I had to take him to the vet and they did another x-ray.
He had fluid in his chest that they had to remove. The vet has
put him on Lasix and Enacard. I am so worried about him. I was
able to bring him home the same day, thankfully. He is tired
but seems ok. They had to shave his sides.
If I put the pills in his wet food, he eats them right up. I
am feeding him the tiny cans of Wellness chicken and beef flavor. |

December
2001
My little Wolfy is doing great. His fur is getting so full and
fluffy - especially on his sides! He looks like he has wings!
I am calling them his angel wings, and I told him someday they
will help him fly to Heaven. He is just so cute. I took him
to NJ for Christmas and he had a blast playing with the bows
and boxes. I had a hard time keeping him out of the tree, tho.
I unfortunately had to keep him in a bedroom when I went out
to visit relatives, and that seemed to upset him. He does not
like closed doors. I hope it didn't upset him too much.
I didn't make him stay in his carrier in the car, since it makes
him turn blue and drool and spit up, so I let him lay on a blanket
on the backseat with the dog. He was fine with that and didn't
get sick at all. |

2000
Wolfy is just the cutest cat in the world. I took him to NJ
with me to visit my parents. He was doing ok, until about half
way thru the drive, he started to turn blue and drool. I don't
think stress is too good for him. I think being in the carrier
bothers him. He likes when the windows are open and he gets
a bit of fresh air.
He really seemed to enjoy it at my Mom's house. I brought Angel
(my Birman female) too and they had fun looking for new places
to sleep and sitting in the windows. Wolfy seems to really love
my Mom. He followed her all over and kept jumping in her chair
with her. |

October
2000
Wolfy is now a year old! Yay! He has had the required ultrasound
x-ray, confirming the heart murmur and Tetralogy of Fallot.
He has also been neutered! I was worried all day while he was
getting the surgery done. I was petrified something would happen
to him, or he wouldn't wake up. I was so excited when the vet
called and said he was doing great! Apparently he did have a
lot trouble upon waking up and started to breathe rapidly, but
they got him stable again with some oxygen. Thank God! He is
home now and acting totally normal. |

June
2000
I have noticed that when I pick Wolfy up, he makes a small wheezing
type of noise and a tiny cry. I think the pressure on his chest,
when I pick him up, is causing him discomfort. I have decided
to not pick him up for hugs any more, and if I have to pick
him up for some reason, I now do so by supporting his front
and back legs. A bit awkward, but does not seem to cause him
discomfort. |

We have adopted Wolfy and he is settling in wonderfully with
our other pets. He is adorable and "chirps" at me
when he wants attention. He plays a little, but gets out of
breath and then flops on his side and rests.
